- ## Information About PM-Soft
- ##
-
- PM-Soft consists of Niklas Dahlman and
- David von Plenker-Tind.
-
- We started with our first project in 1991. It was, and still is, a Train
- Interface Driver, also known as TID©. TID© is still under development and
- it expands all the time. Our second project is this one, the PMClock©,
- but more about it later. More projects are on thier way.
-
- Our bigger programs are ShareWare (we take a small fee for the
- usage of the program) like TID©, but our smaller programs are
- desperado-ware. We would like you to send us something (could be
- anything except letter-bombs). If you send something that we like
- we just might send you a free upgrade of the program (don't forget
- to specify wich program you award with your gift or thing).

- ## Info about PMClock
- ##
-
- PMClock is a small clock! It show the time like a digital clock, with
- hours, minutes and seconds in digits in a small title-bar-like window.
-
-
-
- ##
- ## Why?
- ##
-
- Niklas who made this little smart utility, thought
- he missed something when he worked with his computer. So, he sat down
- and wrote this clock. It's a very small and nice little clock and it can
- be placed in any public screen The interface is
- easy to understand and use, but it provides a rather large range of
- control possibilities
-
-
-
- ##
- ## System Requirements
- ##
-
- PM-Soft's software are programmed ON 2.x+ mashines FOR 2.x+ mashines.
- This mean that all our software will require OS2.04 or higher (kickstart
- 37.175) The programs are tested on OS2.04 and OS3.0 mashines.
-
- N.B. If YOU are a OS2.x+ user WITHOUT a battery-backed clock, we would
- like to know if PMClock works. We haven't tested this config (we can't
- afford to keep low-end systems strictly for testing).
-
- PMClock is using the commodities.library in order to read the ToolTypes
- from the icon. If this disk-based library is missing, PMClock will start
- with all ToolType-values as default.
-
-
-
- ##
- ## How you use PMClock
- ##
-
- PMClock can be started both from WB and Shell. To start it from WB, you
- double-click on the PMClock-icon and PMClock will pop up on your
- WB-Screen. In order to control the place were you want PMClock to pop up
- you can specify several ToolTypes in the icon (see chapter ToolTypes).
- To start PMClock automaticly when you start your WorkBench, you can copy
- PMClock to the WBStartup-drawer on your SYS:-disk. Don't forget to set
- the DONOTWAIT-ToolType in the icon.
-
- To start PMClock from Shell you just type
-
- PMClock
-
- in a Shell-window.
- ToolTypes can also be specified from Shell (Read more about ToolTypes).
-
- PMClock PUBLICSCREEN=TERM
-
- This command-line will start PMClock on the Term-PublicScreen if it does
- exist. If it don't, PMClock will open on the WB-Screen. PMClock is
- auto-detaching so you can close the Shell-window after starting PMClock.
-
-
-
- ##
- ## The Different ToolTypes
- ##
-
- PMClock supports several ToolTypes. This is a easy way to configure the
- clock so it can suit any user.
-
- The following ToolTypes are supported:
-
- LEFT Places the clock on the specified pixel in x-led. Default is
- next to the depth-gadget on the screen. Even Overscan and
- Bigger-than-average-screen is supported.
-
- TOP Places the clock on the specified pixel in y-led. Default is 0.
-
- DELAY Delays the opening of the window if you for some reason would
- like to do that(?!). If not specified 0. The DELAY-time is given
- in ticks (there are 50 ticks per second).
-
- PUBLICSCREEN You can specify a PublicScreen that PMClock will open its
- window on. In the Icon TERM is specified as an exampel. If the
- PublicScreen that is specified does not exist PMClock will open
- on the default PublicScreen. This ToolType is case-sensitive. You
- can start one PMClock on the WorkBench-screen, start Dopus and
- then start PMClock again and it will open on the Term-screen.
-
- SECONDS ON or OFF. To be or not to be is the question of this ToolType.
- If it's set to OFF the seconds will be turned off and the window
- can be amde much smaller (it's of course depending on the font-size).
- The default-value is ON (the seconds turned on). Like the
- PUBLICSCREEN-ToolType, this is also case-sensetive.
-
- WIDTH This ToolType will set the width of the PMClock-window. This
- ToolType is used if the font that is used is wider than the
- default 120 pixels. It can also be used for making the window
- smaller together with the SECONDS=OFF-ToolType.
-
- The ToolTypes in the icon are within paranthesis wich means that the
- ToolType is ignored. To make the i.e. PUBLICSCREEN active you will have
- to erase the paranthesis and save the current settings.
-
-
-
- ##
- ## Suggestions To Changes And Additions
- ##
-
- We might add an alarm-feature in a future release.
-
-
-
- ##
- ## Info About Effects Involving PMClock
- ##
-
- As far as I know the only limit to how many clocks you can have open at
- once is the amount of memory you have. You may notice a fun effect if
- you have a slow computer and many PMClock's active on the same screen.
- Each PMClock will use some CPU-Power and the screen-update will also take
- some time wich means that you can see several PMClock's with different
- times.
-
- Another funny effect can be noticed if you start Commodores original
- clock. This clock will be running 2 SECONDS AFTER PMClock (on a A3000-
- system). This is not a bug in PMClock, but I can't tell you if the C=-
- clock is faulty. Does this mean that PM-Soft is ahead of C= when it
- comes to software development?
-
-
-
- ##
- ## The revision history of PMClock
- ##
-
- History of changes (exept bugfixing and optimizing):
-
- V1.50 Adding SECONDS (ON|OFF) and WIDTH tooltypes
- Error when calculating default LEFT on PUBLICSCREEN fixed
- Major source revision
- Size: 4840
-
- V1.41 Removed hilarious Enforcer-HIT
- Size: 4900
-
- V1.40 Default left position adapts to sizevariation in the screen's
- depthgadgetwidth
- Size: 5420
-
- V1.35 Now Height of the clock adapts to the FontSize of the screen
- it's going to open on
-
- V1.30 Now senses Bigger-then-average screens and overscan so default
- position is always in the top left corner of the screen,
- even on publicscreens
-
- Works with the version command
-
- V1.20 You can now type in the tooltypes as argument at the CLI prompt
- if you want: ex. PMClock TOP=50 LEFT=200
-
- V1.10 Now reads the tooltypes from it's icon
-
- Known tooltypes: TOP
- LEFT
- DELAY (in ticks)
- PUBLICSCREEN (eg. PUBLICSCREEN=TERM)
-
- V1.00 Initial release, just opened the clock at y=0, x=486
- Auto detaching from Shell
-
-
-
- ##
- ## Distribution
- ##
-
- The latest version of PMClock will be FTP'd to an AmiNet site and hopefully
- mirrored around the world.
-
- You may (should) distribute PMClock if you include the following 6 files:
-
- PMClock
- PMClock.info
- PMClock.doc
- PMClock.doc.info
- PMClock.guide
- PMClock.guide.info
